Petite Sheep Footstool in Lambswool
Petite Sheep Footstool in Lambswool
While most known for timeless aesthetic and functional design, the Mid-Century Modern era also allowed for a bit of whimsy. Personality came through with pattern and color creating splashes of expression in the room. Designers would also look to sculpture as a way to ignite surprise such as Francois-Xavier Lalanne. His belief was that bringing animals into the home environment would simply be “funny” and his idea caught on. Styled after his great body of work we have this shown Sheep Footstool, a gem inspired by a time of fun and games in the Mid-Century.
The classic idea of form and function rings true with this petite Sheep Footstool. Let it roam from corner to corner in your living space or serve as a little ottoman in a nook, wherever it finds itself it will be sure to delight. The piece is crafted from solid hand-carved ebony stained beechwood surrounded by genuine lambswool. Various textures and thicknesses of lambswool create a realness which makes this design even more fun.
This piece remains in its original condition with minor wear consistent with age and history. The ebony beechwood is a perfect contrast to the plush lambswool coat. This Petite Sheep Ottoman can be used in a myriad of settings serving up delight to those who stumble upon it.
