Walnut & Lambswool Valet Chair
Walnut & Lambswool Valet Chair
The Mid-Century Modern design movement brought us countless cherished classics and it goes without saying that the aesthetic remains an undying inspiration for designers to this day. There are a few pieces however which were more popular in the past than they are present day, an example of which is a dressing room essential; the valet chair.
A valet chair is a functional design with an air of curiosity. It is to be placed in a gentleman’s place of dress replacing old traditions of a trained valet who provided a helping hand. A typical valet chair’s design welcomes a jacket and a pair of trousers as well as a place to take a seat and put on one’s shoes. The shown valet chair also features a cufflink and change tray sculpted from walnut.
The Object Refinery team has upholstered the seat in a plush Lambswool which contrasts wonderfully with the walnut frame. This three legged design is not often seen, its sculptural presence makes it a perfect accent in the corner of a dressing room. Overall this piece is in very good condition with very minor wear consistent with age and history. Its frame is skewed ever so slightly but does not at all detract from the structural integrity of the piece.
