Petite Danish Accent Chair in Mist Mohair
Petite Danish Accent Chair in Mist Mohair
From the Art-Deco era of design, we’ve inherited countless graphic systems and stylistic motifs, many of which are still used to this day. Their continued existence throughout centuries of new design movements is proof of their timelessness. Art-Deco design in furniture is quite specific; delicate proportions, swooping lines, combined with a bit of drama. During this time in Denmark there existed countless furniture makers whose work expertly embodied this style; it was commonplace.
This Petite Accent Chair is a prime example of Danish Art-Deco design at its best, so small in size yet universally accommodating. This chair has undergone a complete restoration in our studio both structurally and aesthetically. The most common choice of material at the time was fine Angora Mohair which originally existed on this very chair. In the restoration, we decided to pay homage to this decision and used a premium grade Angora Mohair in Mist from the Netherlands combined with a modern braided cord detail accentuating the chair’s silhouette. Each oak leg has been refinished in Ebony offsetting the Mohair spectacularly. We are left with the revival of a piece, representing a design movement, that should not be let go. In a room’s corner neighboring a reading light, within a dressing room, or accenting a bedroom; it would be any design enthusiast’s favorite.
