Milo Baughman Rosewood & Chrome Credenza
Milo Baughman Rosewood & Chrome Credenza
The name Milo Baughman is synonymous with everything Mid-Century Modern design. His portfolio of work is far greater than most of his contemporaries, spanning across centuries of his life and for a multitude of furniture manufacturers. Perhaps one of his most well known manufacturing relationships was one with the renown Thayer Coggin, a marriage from which this credenza was born.
The design of this case piece is deliberately architectural. The beauty of thirds is celebrated by Baughman with his use of chrome which cleverly divides panes of beautifully book-matched rosewood. Each section offers a door within which hides shelves and drawers for ample storage. Chrome veneer wraps the plinth base, rises up the piece’s front, and extends over top. It’s a stunning visual effect which looks even more miraculous in reality. Baughman’s selection of rosewood and chrome is a stellar combination, masterfully executed in a way only he could do. Every angled of this piece is a visual delight.
This credenza remains in its original condition which is very good considering its age. Minor wear exists as expected with age and history. The piece is equipped with undermounted levelers so optimal positioning can be achieved with ease. The four interior drawers are finished in ebony with the top two including velvet silverware inserts should this piece be used for entertaining.
