Pace Collection "Monumental" Cocktail Table
Pace Collection "Monumental" Cocktail Table
With the goal of creating pieces of high-design that differed from contemporaries such as Knoll and Herman Miller, Irving & Leon Rosen founded the Pace Collection in 1960. They looked to the simplicity of materials to be the voice of their collection, all expertly fabricated and finished. Polished metals and high gloss exotic veneers were commonplace and to this day remain unapologetically Pace.
We describe this cocktail table as “monumental” for good reason. The chosen materials in both density and overall size come together to form a table which is classically Pace yet rarely seen; never before have we come across a Pace Collection table this large in size. A seemingly endless piece of 3/4” thick polished glass spans 66” in width and 42” in depth, each corner is gracefully rounded which simultaneously accentuates it’s columnar legs and provides soft-edge safety. This massive piece of glass is supported by four solid frosted lucite legs which have tops capped in brass and are secured to solid brass disks atop the glass. The dance of Glass, Brass, and Lucite is a timeless assemblage of materials which speaks to how ahead of its time the Pace Collection truly was.
This table remains in its original condition exhibiting signs of wonderful patina. No chips can be found in the glass, there is however wear consistent with age and history. The brass hardware is beautifully patinated, a look we love, however upon request we can arrange for it to be professionally polished like new; please inquire for more information.
