Eames Aluminum Group Lounge Chairs, Pair
Eames Aluminum Group Lounge Chairs, Pair
Charles & Ray Eames developed the Aluminum Group Collection in 1957, at the time a revolutionary aesthetic which continues to influence modern design to this day. Gone was the idea of an over-sized and over-styled piece of furniture, they boiled the idea down to the essentials which Charles & Ray called their "Sitting Pocket".
The design features an elegant polished aluminum frame for which the collection was named, and within a single sling of material is attached. The Eames' mastery of proportion and use of unique materials is unapologetically apparent here and best experienced by simply taking a seat.
The Object Refinery team has lightly buffed up the aluminum frame to look its best. The pair retain their original supple Leather in Camel with light patina consistent with age and history. This high-back version of the Aluminum Group Lounge Chair design is equipped with a matching leather head rest, a cross bar keeps this cushion attached, so it can easily be tossed behind the chair if one chooses. The 5-leg base of each chair is designed with a tilt mechanism with tension control making it that much easier to achieve optimal comfort.
